In these troubled times, we are confused. We no longer know in which direction to go. In signage, arrows indicate a way forward or draw attention to what has to be seen.
With the Looking for directions installation, made up of giant luminous chevrons, we have to look for them and approach them to follow them. But, why always in the direction of the right? By moving from left to right, as the meaning of occidental reading. Just like in the movies, where going out by the right side of the frame means moving forward.
Here, the arrows symbolize the life passing by. We cannot stop Time but we can pause it by photographing it.
En ces temps troublés, nous sommes désorientés. Nous ne savons plus dans quelle direction aller. Dans la signalétique, les flèches indiquent un chemin à suivre ou attirent l'attention sur ce qui doit être vu.
Avec l'installation Looking for directions, composée de chevrons lumineux géants, il faut les chercher et s'en approcher pour les suivre. Mais, pourquoi toujours dans la direction de la droite? En se déplaçant de gauche à droite, comme le veut la lecture occidentale. Comme dans les films, où sortir par la droite du cadre signifie avancer.
Ici, les flèches symbolisent la vie qui passe. Nous ne pouvons pas arrêter le Temps mais nous pouvons le mettre en pause en le photographiant.
