This project explores the tiny border that exists between the collector and the fetishist.
For this, sneaker fans were asked to pose with their favorite pair. The shooting was accompanied by a conversation to make them comfortable and to learn more about their love for these shoes.
At the end of the interview, the theme of fetishism was approached. If the majority has never thought of it, they admit that their passion can sometimes seem out of the ordinary. And if we define fetishism as a cult of something, everyone recognizes it at least a little.
Each of us has a special relationship to sneakers, whether we are indifferent, fetishist, collector, sports(wo)man or fashion enthusiast.
An even more special practice in the midst of sneakerheads but not only, is the selfeet (self-portrait limited to the bottom of the pants and shoes). A part of the project was to produce hybrids of selfeet. Looking closer, they are not self-portraits because we see the hands of the protagonists. We can perceive several levels of reading: a collector will probably notice a model he does not have, a fetishist will be troubled by the model in question and some will see just a pair of sports shoes…
Ce projet explore l'infime frontière qui existe entre le collectionneur et le fétichiste.
Pour cela, il a été demandé à des fans de baskets de poser avec leur paire préférée. La prise de vue était accompagnée d'une conversation afin de les mettre à l'aise et d'en savoir plus sur leur amour pour ces chaussures.
A la fin de l'interview, le thème du fétichisme a été abordé. Si la majorité d'entre eux n'y a jamais pensé, ils admettent que leur passion peut parfois sembler hors du commun. Et si l'on définit le fétichisme comme le culte de quelque chose, tout le monde le reconnaît au moins un peu.
Chacun d'entre nous a une relation particulière avec les baskets, qu'il soit indifférent, fétichiste, collectionneur, sportif ou amateur de mode.
Une pratique encore plus particulière dans le milieu des sneakerheads mais pas seulement, est le selfeet (autoportrait limité au bas du pantalon et aux chaussures). Une partie du projet consistait à produire des hybrides d'autoportraits. En regardant de plus près, ce ne sont pas des autoportraits car on voit les mains des protagonistes. Nous pouvons percevoir plusieurs niveaux de lecture : un collectionneur remarquera probablement un modèle qu'il n'a pas, un fétichiste sera troublé par le modèle en question et certains verront juste une paire de chaussures de sport...
